Vice President Of Community Resilience Strategy
CurrentI am responsible for establishing a team and finding new ways to work with you, the United Way Network, and United Way Worldwide’s existing network of Partners to enhance and expand efforts that promote United Way Worldwide’s focus on community resilience and inclusive environmental stewardship. My areas of focus are built on the foundation of existing work across the United Way Network, including:Disaster Resilience: This includes understanding, managing, and reducing disaster risk and working alongside our local United Ways to help people before, during, and after disasters.Climate Resilience: Addressing the most challenging climate-related issues requires listening to and working with the people most impacted, focusing on long-term solutions, and building climate resilience. That is precisely what we’ll be doing at scale from United Way.Economic Resilience: Financial empowerment and economic mobility are critical aspects of our work to advance community resilience. Working with partners, we are already taking an innovative approach to providing financing to homeowners and apartment building owners across the country to upgrade appliances, weatherize homes, and make them more efficient and less expensive to operate through our Power Forward Communities partnership and forming cross-sector collaborations that build more resilient communities to strengthen our workforce and pathways to good jobs and economic mobility. Personal Resilience: United Way’s Equity Framework serves as the foundation for helping everyone thrive, which includes helping people take steps toward building resilience individually and collectively.
