Editor-in-Chief Cities & Health - a new international journal from Routledge. My focus is shaping initiatives that bring together people, both professionals and communities, in ways that lead to better outcomes for health and sustainability in urban settings. My work involves ensuring better communication between practice and knowledge. Although my focus is urban settings, I acknowledge the impact that urban activities have on human health and resources across city-regions and globally. My particular interests and experience lie in working systemically and inclusively with urban form and natural systems, at city and neighbourhood levels. I have been an expert advisor to the World Health Organisation's European Healthy City Network for over 15 years. Mediated by good urban planning, supported by huge dollops of community participation; I believe that it is the relationship between resources such as land, food, biodiversity, air, energy, water and local amenities at neighbourhood level; that provide a basis for positive community interaction, individual healthy lives, health equity and a healthy planet.
