Marc Verkade CBM is a seasoned entrepreneur and certified board-member / commissioner, interested in IT science since the age of 10. Developing computer games and office systems in his early teens and helping students and companies with their IT problems and solutions when at university. Marc founded his first IT company at the age of 16 and has a strong focus on ‘getting things done’, ergonomics and communication. After his study engineering and ICT, he founded Marti IT in 1997 which became market leader in bakery software in the Netherlands. In 2010 Marti IT was acquired by Orbak and Marc became CEO of Marti Orbak Software. Next to this role as CEO, Marc founded MITCon (Management IT Consultancy) in 2009 and assisted various (inter-)national organizations addressing their IT, security and operational challenges. In 2010 Marc was asked to join Zarafa as COO / member of the management team and helped preparing Zarafa for a takeover by Amazon in 2012. In 2012 Marc acquired EXTRAvestiging, an e-commerce platform for bakeries and in that same year Marc co-founded LineSolar / Exasun (www.exasun.com). Marc was responsible for business development, operations and was investor manager with the other 2 founders at LineSolar / Exasun until 2014. Exasun is currently the only solar panel producer in The Netherlands (The Hague Area) and is specialized in Building Integrated Solar solutions. After his move to Curacao in 2013, Marc co-founded Clean Air Everywhere, a foundation which demands the government of Curaçao to act against air pollution. Since 2015 Marc’s focus shifted from software development to cybersecurity, OSINT en software compliance advisory. Marc helped various companies to identify and address their cybersecurity weaknesses and assisted several local companies with their IT compliance next to managing the acquired EXTRAvestiging e-commerce platform which was sold in 2021.
