The Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology (DMICE) is an academic unit in the School of Medicine within Oregon Health & Science University. DMICE engages in research related to the development, dissemination and evaluation of information technology in the health care field.My role within DMICE was to expand the department's relationships with the health and medical business communities, hospital systems, other academic institutions, other OHSU departments, government agencies and policy-makers to the benefit of the department's academic, research, and teaching goals. As a part of my responsibilities, I created and managed an External Advisory Board, led an initiative to create an ongoing Alumni Forum and website, conducted and presented funded research, designed a scholarship program, and participated in other efforts to improve the department's external efforts.

Engaged as consultant serving organizations such as the Oregon Bioscience Association, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), Worksystems Inc. and private companies. Initiated and leveraged over $100,000 in public/private grants for education, training, and industry development for bioscience, including FDA regulatory training, and the development of a new master’s program for Bioscience Business Management for OHSU.

-Served three Oregon Governors for fourteen years as the state’s lead business recruitment, industry development, and community development officer for the Portland Metro area.-Served as state lead for development of the biosciences and high technology/semiconductor industries; -Facilitated applications for state financial assistance for companies; facilitated resolution of regulatory and permit difficulties at state level.-Managed the recruitment of over $20 billion of semiconductor investment in the Portland region including Intel Aloha Campus expansion, Intel Ronler Acres Campus, Integrated Device Technology, Komatsu Silicon USA, Fujitsu Microelectronics Inc expansion, LSI Logic Corporation, and Microchip Corporation.-Managed key business retention projects including Welch Allyn, Freightliner Corporation, Siltronic, Tektronix Campus consolidation, Sun Microsystems, and many others.

-Employers included Hillman Properties, Columbia Willamette Development Company (subsidiary of PGE), Commercial Securites Inc. (NZ), and Landsing Property Corporation.-Developed, marketed and managed commercial high-rise, mid-rise, and historic properties in Oregon and Idaho for national and regional real estate development firms. Projects included 1000 Broadway (high rise), 800 SW Front Ave. (mid-rise infill), the Haseltine Building, the Willamette Block, Porter Hotel Building, Elks Temple (Boise), Bon Marche Department Store (Lewiston), Murrayhill Shopping Center, and others.-Brokered investment properties.-Managed studies for future development opportunities.

-Urban policy development and implementation in Washington D.C., the San Francisco Bay area, and Portland, Oregon. Includes experience with non-profits; city, state, county, regional and federal governments; and private consulting.
