She has also worked as a freelance preparator for the Adler Planetarium, the Smart Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Richard H. Driehaus Museum, and numerous private collectors in the Chicago area. Mardy holds a M.F.A from Columbia College Chicago with a focus in bookbinding, printmaking and paper making.Specialties include, art on paper, block printing, letterpress, bookbinding and box making techniques - Knowledgeable in working with and advising artists on a wide range of artist materials - Trained in archival framing procedures including mat cutting, archival hinging, and sealed packages for transport - Experience with proper packing of art objects and international courier protocols - Familiar with digital art database management including location tracking and inventory - Organized project coordinator - Skilled in preparing, implementing and installing art exhibitions in an internationally esteemed encyclopedic museum - Capable problem solver.

Conservation Technician, Specializing In Paper, Department Of Conservation And Science
As Conservation Technician at the Art Institute of Chicago, I plan and implement the preparation and installation of works of art on paper from the permanent collection in the Department of Prints and Drawings. Matting, hinging and framing is performed to the highest conservation standards, for exhibition, loan, and re-housing purposes. I also construct custom archival drop-spine boxes and library enclosures to house fragile paper based materials, books and three dimensional objects. My responsibilities within the museum setting include environmental monitoring, moving and tracking artwork using the museum database and installation of exhibitions in various galleries throughout the Art Institute of Chicago.
