My background started within the textile arena at The Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand (WRONZ) where I learned my textile trade from the ground up - particularly within research and development, project design, product innovation and technical marketing. I also was involved with the interface between innovation and tech transfer which is a huge passion of mine - realising the transition from the lab bench to the manufacturer; all the while being mindful of the consumer need and drivers. Key technical projects that I have been involved with include development of novel nonwoven wool products, high lofted waddings for thermal insulation, windproof/waterproof/windproof wool apparel and a technical oil sorbent to mention but a few.I have a strong technical project design and management background and am passionate about all things textile and thrive on delivering quality product, technical validation and market support to the manufacturer, retailer and consumer.My next career move took me to The New Zealand Merino Company which gave me the opportunity to integrate incredible wool innovation to global brands - validating the vast technical attributes and benefits of this unique fibre in a consumer centric way. Amazing innovation relies on consumer need and to do this, the messaging has to be focused and in the right language for the market.I'm a firm believer in embracing challenge, change and getting out of your comfort zone, so moved my life and career 17,000km from New Zealand to Finland. I have had the immense pleasure of working for Spinnova; a fibre innovation company as their Senior Application Manager for the past 4.5 years. I went from the world of wool to the most sustainable cellulose-based fibre in the world. My role at Spinnova had a key focus on developing circular materials that have minimal and sustainable impact on the environment. Essentially all things textile, innovation, amazing product development and brand partner, customer and supply chain relationship management; essentially bringing the innovation to the consumer by collaboratively working with energised and sustainably motivated brands.
