Worked on the Development of an Instant Messaging Application using Visible Light Communication (VLC) as a medium for data transfer. The project included transmitter and receiver design for a establishing a VLC link, implementation of the designs on veroboard along with a thorough analysis of the obtained results. A study on serial communications as well as MIL-STD-1553 was also done during the project. Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 was used for the development of the user interface layer for the application whereas implementation of the firmware layer was done in Basys 3 FPGA board. The final setup developed for the live demo can be used in the future to serve as a test bed for further expansion of the work (file transfer, video transfer etc.).
