As a postdoctoral associate at the University of Minnesota, I investigate the extent to which domain insertions in the AAV capsid can redirect viral cell tropism and I supervise the day-to-day experimental work of graduate students. Furthermore, I am involved in an industrial collaboration for which I design and produce AAV vectors.

In my postdoc time at the University Hospital Heidelberg, I designed and optimized AAV vector DNA for cell type-specific gene therapy targeting and subsequently validated them in vivo in mice. I was also responsible for performing neutralizing AAV antibody screenings for industry collaboration partners.

During my PhD I engineered light- and microRNA-dependent anti-CRISPR proteins for a conditional activation of CRISPR-Cas9 enzymes. Following a 3-year stipend from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), I graduated in December 2019 and obtained my Dr. rer. nat. with summa cum laude from the University of Heidelberg.
