Since then, the magazine has extended its coverage to Central Asia and Eastern Europe, and plan to keep expanding to other parts of the globe that are similarly misunderstood and misrepresented by mainstream media outlets.I joined the magazine in its early stages and was able to develop and professionalize both my writing and my editing skills in this role. As editor of Muftah’s Yemen section, I worked with international and Yemeni academics and experts to contribute to, but most of all contextualize and and diversify media coverage of Yemen in the aftermath of the 2011 popular uprisings in the country. The highlight of my role as editor for Muftah, was a conference co-organized with the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation on international and regional media coverage of the war in Yemen. The conference, which was held at the Red Sea in 2016, brought together Western and Arab academics and journalists, to discuss the various perspectives on the war. Show less
