I combine behavioural science and conflict studies to understand situations of political contestation and acute violent conflict or the attempts to resolve or recover from violence. I am particularly interested in the unseen factors that influence behaviour and dynamics, such as information, narratives or context-specific definitions of concepts such as collaboration, fairness, justice or peace. This takes me into the complex tension between individual behaviour and structures of power. My outputs include research, analysis, and commentary, as well as policy and programming recommendations and advice. I have tackled research in challenging environments, managed research programmes involving multiple international stakeholders, and engaged donors, policy makers, and the public on research findings.
