Dr. Maren Gube’s blend of executive experience and PhD inquiry brings new perspectives to leaders. Her research findings about why women leave Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields have earned awards on both sides of the Atlantic, including 1st prizes from both the jury and the attendees at the Gender Summit North America. (TL;DR: check your culture!) Why are some teams and individuals able to harness their creativity to innovate, while others struggle? Adaptive expertise (also known as applied creative thinking) is about using your skills and learned knowledge creatively and innovatively (whether in management, science, technology, education, training, music, or sports). Neuroscience tells us that emotions and cognition are inseparable during the creative process, but as a society we tend to ignore the first and overemphasize the second. Understanding their relationship, and the impacts of the cultural environment on it, can lead to profound transformations at both individual and team levels. When we learn how to influence the interplay between thinking and feeling, we can optimize results -- while also supporting creativity and wellbeing. Dr. Gube helps teams design cultures of fearless, collaborative innovation. Her academic background in Learning Science (Educational Psychology) informs her approach, and she is conscious of how environments that lack diversity and inclusion cause society to lose out on valuable contributions of underrepresented groups. She has trained in Culture Design, and earned certifications in Psychological Safety, Emotional Culture, Somatic Embodiment, and Emotional Climate Auditing.
