Postdoctoral researcher at MapIneq project.The EU-funded MapIneq project aims to create an open access platform comprising visualisation and mapping tools as well as data that will shed light on the drivers of inequality in the various spheres of life in previous decades. The focus will be on family, health, education and work. MapIneq seeks to understand how various socioeconomic conditions, policy, societal changes and changes over the life course affect inequalities across these domains. It will create a database delineating relevant policies, linking the information to individual-level longitudinal and cross-country data sets. Overall, the project will offer a better understanding of the dynamics of inequalities across the life course.

My dissertation “Selection or Moderation? Three Essays on Educational Inequalities” was defended in March 2023 at the European University Institute. In this work, I propose a novel conceptual framework to investigate two mechanisms underlying the intergenerational reproduction of inequalities. It focuses on the heterogeneity by social origins in the prevalence of a potentially negative event/condition achievement and the penalty associated with that outcome for future educational success. Using fore-front causal designs, it provides new causal findings on the three case studies considered: Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom. Ultimately, this thesis proposes a novel framework to analyse social origin inequalities that can be profitably applied to various other processes related to social origin inequalities.
