Marett is from Atlanta, Georgia in her third year at the University of Florida. She will graduate in the spring of 2022 with a bachelor’s in Interior Design and a Minor in Digital Arts and Sciences. This aspiring designer is intrigued by both the commercial, residential, and all things digital in the field. In this design program, she has learned how to explore formal, conceptual, and technical considerations and how they intertwine in the conception of space. The experience learned has gained her experience reinforced by history, theory, building technology, and construction materials and methods. During this program, she has developed significantly as a thoughtful leader, collaborator, and innovator. This program has prepared her for a professional career in office, residential, healthcare, retail, and hospitality design. Projects she has completed so far include a restaurant, large office, and community kitchen design including using valuable skills like conceptualization and branding. Her minor has made her well versed in social and interactive media, critical thinking, and creative design solutions. This minor provides extra experience in collaborative teams on media projects including digital storytelling, animation, and entrepreneurship. She is proficient in digital programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Enscape, 3Ds Max, Microsoft Office Programs, and Lightroom. These skills have been mastered through courses such as construction documents, interior lighting design, finishes and materials, 3d application, communications, and eight design studio courses. Marett has a strong background in retail sales, graphic design, and customer service. These skill sets make her valuable but also have helped to shape her into a well-rounded designer. In 2019 she started a small furniture refurbishing company to get hands-on with restoring, preserving, and building furniture using a variety of hand tools and power tools and applying knowledge of fabrics and wood furniture. Her business sense combined with preciseness and attention to detail makes her projects of all scales maintain an intimate feel.
