About Margaret Cooper

Margaret serves as Chevron’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs for its Americas Exploration & Production business where she oversees Chevron’s policy, government and public affairs throughout the Americas, including the company’s significant portfolio of assets in the Permian, California, Gulf of Mexico, and Rocky Mountain regions of the United States, Canada, and Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela in Latin America.Throughout her career, Margaret has consistently been entrusted with leadership roles for critical business needs, including leading Corporate Affairs efforts in support of capital portfolio of more than $8 billion annually. She spearheaded Chevron’s Corporate Affairs integration for Atlas Energy, Noble Energy and PDC Energy, establishing new structures, strategies and budgets, and has directed wide-ranging, global projects in issues and reputation management, policy development and advocacy, community social investment, and executive, external and internal communications.She holds a deep understanding of energy development as well as the complex external landscape in which development exists. With a clear business goal in mind and a bias toward action, she has exceled in assembling and enabling high performing teams, building capacity across her organization, and delivering results that elevate the company. As a sought-after thought partner and colleague across Chevron and the energy industry, she was a founding management committee member of the Permian Strategic Partnership, which brought together 20 companies and more than $100 million to support Permian communities. She contributed to Chevron’s and industry’s advocacy efforts to return to work in the Gulf of Mexico post-Macondo, and advanced Chevron’s shale operational and public policies through increased transparency and establishment of the Center for Sustainable Shale Development. Margaret has served on the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association board, Permian Strategic Partnership (PSP) Management Committee, and chaired the Texas Oil & Gas Association and PSP communications committees. She currently serves on the board of Trees for Houston, SEARCH Homeless Services advisory board, and Greater Houston Partnership Women’s Executive Partnership. She serves as a Chevron Houston Women’s Network Executive Sponsor. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and master’s degree from University of New Orleans.
