Director Of Fundraising (Interim)Vision Foundation Jun 2021 - Sep 2021London, United Kingdom, GbSo inspiring to hold the fort - while the permanent role was filled - in this interim role to lead Vision's work to champion the rights and achievements of Londoners living with sight loss. Greatly enjoyable to boost morale, accountability and strategic focus for nine fundraising staff across six income streams to help them exceed budget and build greater team collaboration to achieve better results. Exciting time to lead the team during the merger of the communications and fundraising teams. I laid foundations for new donor acquisition plans and wish Team Vision all the very best with their ambitious strategy to stand alongside the amazing people who make up London's visually impaired community. -
Director Of FundraisingCardinal Hume Centre Jun 2017 - May 2021London, Westminster, GbI loved working with a stellar team of 6 gifted fundraisers to generate income for a fantastic suite of services for those in the Westminster area who have housing issues and complex social needs. All through the pandemic, I was so proud that our hostel team have soldiered on to keep providing a home for 37 people (aged 16-25 years old) from the UK and across the globe, including brave unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. Always two staff around the clock and more support staff in the daytimes to help with cooking, learning and practical needs. In the fundraising team we worked hard to enable these young people to get much needed help from our other specialist advice services. Our hard-working fundraising team also worked alongside frontline colleagues to allow young families to come in, for play time to get a break from their limited homespace. Meanwhile, remote support and in person advice went on for the Mums and Dads - for urgent needs they had for their housing, benefits, legal status and welfare rights cases. Keeping people in their homes and helping them find their feet again after a crisis. -
Irish Operations ManagerFields Of Life Jun 2016 - Jan 2017At Fields of Life I led the staff team and reported directly to the CEO. I line managed ten staff members across the fundraising, retail, marketing and finance departments to support them to achieve their KPIs. These staff members raise and manage the income to deliver life-changing programmes in East Africa, where the organisation has forty five staff who work with local communities to provide clean water sources and health promotion and quality education for children, especially girls. In my IT management role, I led on the acquisition of new finance software and transition to cloud-based document storage. In my HR role, I oversaw the introduction of a new workplace pension scheme for staff.

Uk Community Fundraising Manager (Fixed-Term Contract)Concern Worldwide Mar 2015 - May 2016Dublin 2, IeI was hired to implement major strategic change in the Community Fundraising department at Concern UK and to roll out new ways of working in our team and with supporters who raise funds in their local communities across the UK. I led successful inter-departmental collaborations to embed significant change in our new strategy around volunteer fundraisers, working with data, finance, donor care, major donors, corporate, retail and individual giving teams. I led the team to design and deliver a campaign to launch a new sub-brand across digital and outdoor channels, called ‘Do Your Thing’ to attract members of the public to raise funds for the world's poorest people. I led the team to design and implement a new volunteer speaking programme called 'Concern Ambassadors'. In just nine months we created the programme and recruited and trained enthusiastic volunteers of all ages from business, farming, medical and charity backgrounds. I also oversaw the recruitment and stewardship of London Marathon Gold Bond place fundraisers. I led on the move of In Memory fundraising from the Legacy/Individual Giving Team to our Community Team. Our team promoted campaigns through video, social media, direct response, web sign-ups, print media and phonecalls and visits to supporters as well as presentations to schools, youth groups and communities. -
Senior ManagerKairos Europe & Usa Jul 2007 - Mar 20152007-15: I was based in the UK with frequent travel to Europe and a short-term secondment to the US.At this faith-based international youth training organisation, I was responsible for recruiting, training and resourcing young leaders in Europe and the US, ranging in age from 17 to 25 years. In consultation with young people and their volunteer leaders, I conducted needs analysis and assessed risks in designing and delivering international residential youth events. I also planned, executed and evaluated regular youth training programmes and delivered training in Leadership Styles, Delegation, Fostering Change, Myers-Briggs, Belbin Team Roles, Handling Conflict, Creative Thinking with De Bono Skills, Strategic Planning, Covey Habits, Communication, Presentations and Leading Effective Meetings. The leadership model which proved successful was to develop, train and empower teams of young people in leadership and teamwork skills to run international youth events (for 50-350 people). I regularly spoke at these international events and I presented to European Board meetings reporting on qualitative and quantitative programme evaluations. I created ‘Latte Club’, an Alumni regular giving campaign in Europe for past members. I worked with the Director in the successful cultivation of major gifts from committed donors of high net worth.

Senior ManagerYouth Initiatives Ltd Apr 2001 - Jun 2007Amazing work that develops volunteer leaders (aged 16-25) from among the young people (11-18) who attend their youth centres across some of the most deprived benefit-reliant estates of the UK.At YI, I created a new case for support for the organisation and for each of six distinct youth projects. I led with my Management Team colleagues on a ten-year strategic plan, listening to young leaders, donors, schools, government and funders. I successfully generated income that led to a 48% increase in turnover and a 62% increase in staff during my time as Fundraising Manager. I secured six figure sums from e.g.: Department for Social Development for core senior staff costs with personal success rate of 1 in 2.5 applications to Trusts, BBC Children In Need, corporate staff funds, and the EU. I overhauled the donor database, donor communications and events to leverage major gifts from High Net Worth Individuals. I created a new individual giving direct mail campaign, with tiered recognition. In one year I signed up 30 dormant supporters to give £30/month.In 2006, in my fundraising and senior management role, I pioneered and planned a ‘Schools Partnering Youthwork’ project with Twinbrook High School, Belfast (a majority of pupils receive free school meals). I secured three-year European funding for a staffed youth work hub on school grounds for at risk 14-16 year olds. That partnership continues. Similarly, in 2005, I designed and developed a successful grant proposal for European Peace Funds to partner with the Chinese Welfare Association, to introduce young people in Belfast from ethnic minority families to the successful CrossLinks creative arts peace-building programme for young people living in loyalist and nationalist housing estates. The added diversity was hugely enriching. As Volunteer Manager (2001-03), my role was training, equipping and supporting 16–25 year old volunteers to lead informal education programmes for their near peers (11–18 years old). -
