Dr. Margaret Brooks, a graduate of Brown University, currently serves as the President of the RI Council for Economic Education. She is recently retired from Bridgewater State University, where she served as Economics Department Chair and is now Professor Emeritus, and is also recently retired from her nonprofit leadership positions as President of RI Jump$tart Coalition and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Council, a program of Council for Economic Education. Prior to her December 31, 2022 retirement at BSU, she had served as Bridgewater State University tenured full Professor of Economics, Founding Director of the Center for Economic Education, and Economics Department Chair. She is a distinguished economist who is often quoted in the press and is a well-known advocate for online education. Dr. Brooks has offered innovative economics workshops and programs for New England teachers and students for over 30 years. She also regularly organizes successful conferences and programs on the topic of financial education.
