• Collaborated with an interdisciplinary team in nursing, computer science, and informatics to construct a Care-Companion robot (CCR) with emotional intelligence using AI to help mitigate agitation for people with moderate to severe dementia• Presented research findings at Noyce Symposium and Alzheimer's Disease Centers Research Symposium to professors and students• Labeled utterances with Eckman’s emotions to improve the training of a machine-learning model for the CCR• Developed and played out roleplay scenarios for quality control of the CCR ensuring it meets user needsCurrently in the process of a publication involving the usage and effectiveness of Personas and Daily Activity Maps for our care companion robot with Dr. Adey Nyamathi and Dr. Erik Krogh

This program is designed to help undergraduate students with the process of starting research. A mentor is assigned to a group of undergraduates to prepare them academically, professionally, and personally to conduct research at some point during their academic studies at UCI.
