With an estimated 9 billion people on the planet by 2050 will come increased demand for food/fiber and energy, all of which will put tremendous pressure on our water resources, both quality and quantity. Using an integrated modeling approach, I provide insights into watershed hydrologic and water quality responses to key perturbations and information to guide water resources decision-making and management, with a focus on environmental and source waters. My work provides much-needed information, guidance, and tools for researchers, planners, and decision makers working to improve water quality and water resources management in a rapidly changing world.My work has been used in water resources applications in over 20 different countries and garnered interest in other areas beyond water resources. I have been invited to speak on this and related subjects, more recently in India and China. As the Founding President of the Mentoring Network for African Women in Academia (MTAWA), I have brought together over 120 African women professionals in academia and others interested in the success of African women. Over the past three and a half years, we have: held three successful workshops focused on career development; instituted a variety of mentoring models to better suit our member needs; and, launched an awards program to recognize outstanding graduate students. We now boast 6 mentees who have graduated with PhDs and have been gainfully employed.
