Worked seasonally as part of a crew on vegetation projects in the 4 Southeast Utah Group National Parks/Monuments. Surveyed, mapped, and treated invasive plant species and completed restoration projects in front- and backcountry areas. Led groups of volunteers and interns. Wrote trip reports and input data/photos.

Worked as part of a crew on ecological restoration projects in Yosemite National Park. Surveyed and treated invasive plant species. Planted native species manually and using small-scale heavy equipment. Inventoried and restored backcountry campsites. Led volunteer groups on restoration projects.

I backpacked through the Wilderness areas of the Stanislaus National Forest making visitor contacts and working to preserve wilderness character.- Backpacked for up to 9-day tours carrying all tools and equipment associated with assignments- Patrolled Wilderness areas of Stanislaus National Forest while educating visitors on Leave No Trace principles and Wilderness regulations- Inventoried and naturalized campsites; input collected data into database and edited digital photographs- Performed basic trail maintenance and cleared trails of downed trees using crosscut saw- Completed ecological restoration projects with Stanislaus Wilderness Volunteers- Identified, surveyed, and pulled invasive weeds

Most of my work involved helping the other executive board members plan and put on events. I worked on or organized:- Power Shift 2011, an environmental youth conference in Washington, DC: recruitment, advertising, fundraising, transportation, and housing for a group of over 40 Ithaca College students; I also attended a facilitator training in Boston and was then able to helped train other facilitators, and with them facilitate some of the training breakout sessions at Power Shift; I also helped organize the Youth Power Summit, an event similar to Power Shift that took place in Ithaca a week before Power Shift- Take It Or Leave It gift swaps, Dec. 2010 and 2011- Moving Planet bike tour to farmers' market, Sept. 2011- Campus Sustainability Day alternative transportation demo, Oct. 2011- Food Day documentary screening and teach-in, Oct. 2011- Earth Week - multiple events, April 16-22, 2012Other tasks I performed included:- Co-facilitating weekly general body and executive board meetings;- Managing the ICES budget;- Creating printed and online outreach materials;- Collaborating with other student organizations and community members to put on events;- Managing the ICES listserve;- Updating the ICES ICLink, Facebook, blog, and Twitter accounts; and- Representing ICES for the media and by tabling at events.

I did a little bit of everything, including:- Coordinating the Eco-Rep program, including overseeing the Eco-Reps and running weekly meetings, fall 2011-May 2012;- Writing and distributing Installments, monthly REMP newsletters;- Trash copping (helping people sort their waste into proper compost, recycling, and trash receptacles) at events such as NCUR, Taste of the Nation, and IC Kicks Back;- Updating the REMP website, Facebook page, and Eco-Reps blog;- Designing outreach materials in the form of flyers, signs, bulletin board and tabling displays, stickers, door hangers, magnets, and brochures/booklets;- Helping with the Jumpstart Program "Sustainable Community Challenge" bus trip;- Representing REMP at events/tabling;- Helping run the Take It Or Leave It (TIOLI) program during the move-out periods of May 2010 and 2011 and during the semesters from fall 2010-present;- Organizing and holding the TIOLI yard sale, August 2011; and- Attending monthly REMP Steering Committee meetings.
