My new book, A Hand in Healing: The Power of Expressive Puppetry, will be published on November 1, 2015.This is the first book written about expressive puppetry and how to use puppets when providing care for people of all ages and levels of functioning. With expressive puppetry, you can engage family members, as well as clients in nursing homes, hospices, therapy practices, and other settings where you need help connecting. These stories will inspire and mentor you through the process of creating authentic, heart-to-heart connections.

My workshops have been enthusiastically received by nursing home staff, activity directors, and therapists throughout the country. In a typical workshop, I share my experience as an educator, lecturer, storyteller, and spiritual counselor who has used puppets therapeutically to help with healing.My workshops are hands-on and interactive trainings that educate, energize and inspire staff. I share examples of how you can add puppets to your program quickly and under budget, and ways to encourage workplace humor, laughter and creativity. Participants also explore how puppets can help address some of residents’ emotional issues and foster communication.I also offer private consultations with caregivers and loved ones. In these one-on-one consultations I draw on my extensive experience in expressive puppetry and spiritual counseling to offer personalized assistance. For caregivers I can help you connect with clients or loved ones who you’re finding challenging and help to reestablish a spirit of connectedness.
