I’m Margherita Cesca Nelder-Haynes, an architect with over 20 years of international experience, specialising in science, R&D, manufacturing, energy, sustainability, defence, education, and the design of circular habitats for space. My work is focused on blending tradition with innovation to create architectural solutions that address today’s challenges while shaping the future.Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of leading award-winning projects such as P2P Power to Plants at the University of Cambridge’s Botanic Garden, as well as collaborating with global brands like VERSACE and ETRO on high-profile projects in New York. Our expertise extends across diverse sectors, including defence, where we have worked on sensitive and strategic projects, and education, where we’ve designed spaces that foster learning and innovation. These experiences have shaped my approach to design, where sustainable practices, technological advancements, and respect for heritage are central to every project I undertake.As Director at Frank Shaw Associates, I lead a talented team at our Cambridge studio, expanding our work across multiple sectors in the UK and globally. Whether revitalising communities, supporting industrial growth, advancing research and development, or contributing to defence and educational infrastructure, we are committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions that make a lasting impact on the built environment.In addition to my work here on Earth, I’m also developing Lunarth.space, a venture dedicated to space architecture, driven by my passion for pushing the boundaries of design and sustainability and the desire to create spaces for humanity beyond our planet.I am equally committed to supporting the next generation of architects and leaders.
