Field campaigns for the study of fin whales Balaenoptera physalus in the Mediterranean (Fin whales project). Assist with offshore field operations of monitoring, detecting animals, and collection of data(morphometry, body condition, behaviour, and photo-ID)

Study of the distribution of cetacean species at a large scale‐Connecting continent with the Macaronesia archipelagos in the eastern North Atlantic (CETUS).- Provide cetacean occurrence data in the vast region of the Eastern North Atlantic.- Photographic records and photographic verification/validation of whales and dolphins.

The internship’s main goal is to provide an introduction to cetacean monitoring using underwater bioacoustics as a complement to visual surveys. Next to the identification of cetacean sounds, underwater noise quantification may be addressed. A multitude of techniques will be taught, from fieldwork techniques for data collection to data entry, processing and analysis.
