With our CEO, I direct the agency, a fifty-year-old institution in publishing. We represent 11 Nobel Laureates, three Pulitzer Prize winners, and over 45 bestsellers in the last decade alone.

I partner with authors to translate their (often scholarly) research and deep expertise into successful, commercial books that sell around the globe. To represent clients, I tap into my background as a nonfiction editor and in the humanities; my work across the social sciences over nearly twenty years; and a love of science that you can see. Thorough and hands-on, I believe “taste is the feminine of genius.”

I set the publishing strategy for a key revenue stream, acquiring and developing 20 to 25 books each year. Focusing on titles with outstanding critical and sales potential, many of my books translated research for broader audiences.

Tasked with the growth of a young book program, I built a cohesive and lucrative list in Business and Economics. I published a diverse portfolio of trade books, professional titles, crossover books, textbooks, and monographs, guiding authors from concept to publication and beyond. I also spearheaded the launch of Stanford Briefs, an imprint for short, incisive reads.

In this newly-created role, I sought to increase the breadth and value of SAGE’s largest, most profitable list. In addition to acquiring new titles and targeted revisions, I oversaw two book series—SAGE’s acclaimed “Little Green Books” (Quantitative Applications in the Social Sciences) and Applied Social Research Methods. As the developmental lead on priority titles, I ensured that every product was of the highest quality, met market needs, and published according to schedule.

As an Associate Editor, my primary responsibilities straddled developmental editing and acquisitions. I partnered with authors, freelancers, and internal staff to develop high-revenue titles and related ancillaries for nine book programs. As an acquiring editor, I initiated, negotiated, and managed promising revisions.

I joined SAGE as the company was expanding its textbook program, which enabled me to seek out early opportunities for professional growth. I conducted market research in Education and Research Methods; led my department in the transition to a new, enterprise-wide book tracking system; and got a foundational education in book publishing by supporting two acquisitions editors.

The California Aggie was my introduction to working with writers. I managed a staff of six reporters and edited all incoming features for this daily paper. I also wrote two stories per month and penned various Op Eds as a member of the Editorial Board.
