In my role as product owner infectious diseases, I am responsible for the continuous development of our modular multi infectious disease platform. In addition, I work on the analysis and realization of various software components, required within this domain. With the view to optimize infectious disease control I liaise with all relevant stakeholders in order to increase efficiency between clients, healthcare professionals and funding bodies. Currently, our solution CoronIT is used for the screening and detection of COVID-19 in the Netherlands. Our platform facilitates automatic communication with all laboratories involved for analyzing the COVID-19 test in the Netherlands. This concerns already more than 50 laboratories, both domestic and foreign. Furthermore, our solution iTBC is used in all 25 municipal health services in the Netherlands. iTBC is an integrated solution that supports the healthcare professional in recording all relevant data about the screening and treatment of tuberculosis. We are on a mission to extend the current reach of our integrated tuberculosis platform with the aim to screen, treat and control tuberculosis and other infectious diseases in and beyond low incidence countries.

In my position as healthcare analyst, I am involved in the analysis, realization and implementation of various software solutions. These solutions all aim to connect all stakeholders within healthcare in a safe and efficient way. The products where I have worked on have been implemented in different domains of the Dutch healthcare sector.iTBC: Topicus provides the IT solution iTBC. This solutions supports the healthcare professional in recording all relevant data about the screening and treatment of tuberculosis in a safe and responsible way. iTBC meets all latest requirements regarding information security. Currently, the solution is used on all 25 municipal health services in the Netherlands. Within this project I have been involved in many facets, including analysis and realization of required functionality, implementation and conversion. InterAct CTG & EPD: InterAct EPD is an electronic patient file that is implemented in obstetric departements of hospital in the Netherlands. The strength of this product lies in the efficient connection between professionals working in the region and professionals working in the hospital. In addition, I contributed to the complementary CTG module, which offers a solution for clearly displaying the measured fetal heartbeat and the contractions of a pregnant woman. Within these projects I was involved in the analysis and implementation of the product. Screenit (commissioned by FSB): Using ScreenIT, healthcare professionals and laboratories can collaborate in an efficient and safe way in the screening of cervical-, colon-, and breastcancer. ScreenIT supports the healthcare professional with complete and timely information and contributes to efficient planning and logistics of the screening process. Within this product I contributed to topics in processes related to colon cancer screening. In addition, I participated in the analysis of the client selection algorithm for the population screening of cervical cancer.

Enschede Area, Netherlands

In the Netherlands, it is possible to enter the emergency department (ED) without a referral from a general practitioner (GP). Due to this, many patients with a non-urgent demand for care register at the ED, which has a number of negative consequences. A possible solution for this is to form an integrated emergency post (IEP). This is an organizational model in which the general practitioners post (GP post) collaborates closely with the ED at the same location and with one common counter. As part of achieving my Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and management, I gained insight into the effects of integrating the emergency department of Medisch Spectrum Twente (MST, a dutch hospital located in Enschede) and the GP Post of Enschede (HDT-Oost). This research especially focused on logistical indicators of patient satisfaction and indicators on the efficiency of the organization. Furthermore, it focused on the verification of the general applicability of an existing discrete-event simulation framework for evaluating integrated emergency posts, which was used to determine the effects on the first objective. Thesis: “Simulating the effect of an integrated emergency post in Enschede.”With this research I won the first prize for the best presentation during the annual science symposium of MST (2014). Due to this achievement I represented MST on the Santeon Science Day (2014).

The Hague Area, Netherlands

For my final bachelor assignment, I conducted research on time registration and planning of the operating room (OR) complex at the HagaZiekenhuis (a Dutch hospital located in The Hague). The aim of this research was to answer the question whether the registered times at the OR complex were usable for analysis and could serve as basis for the planning of the OR. The research examined the differences between the recorded times of several OR processes and the realized times of those processes. Based on this examination recommendations were made to improve the time registration and the planning of the OR complex. Thesis: “Geen OK-tijd te verliezen! Benchmarking, planning en tijdregistratie van het operatiekamercomplex.” (“No OK time to lose! Benchmarking, planning and time registration of the operationg room complex.”)
