As the daughter of Cuban immigrants, I’ve always had a passion for politics and foreign affairs. It’s why I chose to study Political Science, and why I decided to take part in political campaigns after college. In 1988, at the request of Governor Jeb Bush, I managed the Bush for President campaign in Miami. I was hooked after that. I ran a political consulting/marketing firm, and eventually founded a very successful grassroots PR and fundraising firm for 15 years. In 2005, after years of noticing the glaring gap in the market for shade structures that were both functional and visually appealing, I decided to try something new and launched ShadeFLA, a design and installation outdoor living company specializing in bold and artistic designs for tension shade sails, retractable roofs, and umbrellas. Since then, we’ve designed projects for Miami's most exclusive resorts and corporate clients, including The Ritz Carlton, Faena, Loews Hotel, the Porsche Design Tower Miami, and others. We love exercising our creative muscles and working alongside visionary architects and general contractors in design and execution. But it’s not just about keeping our clients shaded. I’ve also used my connections and background to advocate for my community. Over the past 25 years, I have been extremely involved with the City of Miami Beach on behalf of my neighborhood on Normandy Isle in North Beach. I’ve helped raise millions of dollars and chaired committees for the betterment of the city.I’m as passionate about community activism as I am about luxury shading solutions.
