David serves on the board of directors and is CEO of Sun World International, one of the world’s largest plant variety breeders and global licensors of premium, proprietary produce. The Company’s fruit varieties are planted on over 50,000 acres on six continents. David began his career at Sun World when it was primarily a major fruit producer and marketer. He has since led most facets of the business including sales & marketing, packing & cold storage, operations, farming, R & D and licensing. David earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. Before joining Sun World, he was a journalist for The New York Times, The Packer and The Bakersfield Californian. As a third-generation produce industry executive, David's passion for agriculture and concern about food insecurity extends beyond his commitments at Sun World. He is a past board chair, director and executive committee member of the Produce Marketing Association (PMA). He has chaired several industry boards including the California Table Grape Commission and the California Fresh Fruit Association and is a director of Farm Payment Technologies, an ag tech start-up. David is also a past board member of FIND, a regional food bank which each month serves nearly 200,000 hungry and food-insecure individuals in Southern California's desert communities.
