I’m a journalist, writer and translator based in Los Angeles. As a news correspondent, I currently report for Dutch national newspaper Trouw from California.Born and raised in the Netherlands, I started my career at Dutch public radio channel NPO Radio 1 as a news editor and writer of the early morning broadcast.After gaining experience as a junior producer at the New York office of RTL Nieuws, I was a copy editor at Spunk, a Dutch platform for emerging young writers and creators, and spent several years reporting about music, fashion and art for DJ Broadcast and CODE Magazine. In 2012, I became a part of the editorial team that helped launch WTF.nl, the Netherlands’ first online tabloid. It quickly became one of the country’s most popular online destinations for remarkable news, selected with sharing on social media in mind.After eight years in New York, I moved to Los Angeles in 2017 and started contributing to leading Dutch newspaper Trouw from California in 2020. Other bylines include Catapult, GO Magazine, Vice and Gothamist. I'm also an online news editor for Belgian publishing house DPG Media, where I’m responsible for news selection and presentation, editing and social media on the websites of four national Dutch newspapers: De Volkskrant, Trouw, Het Parool, and Algemeen Dagblad.Fluent in both Dutch and English, I’ve also translated for clients and companies such as PBS, Vice, HBO (Vice News, Last Week Tonight) and International Film Festival Rotterdam.Specialties: News selection, reporting, editing, breaking news, creative writing, social media, reader engagement, live blogging, newsletter writing, media production.
