At Kroger I help prepare prescription medications for patients. When prescriptions are sent from physician’s office, I type and check for accuracy ensuring that patients are receiving the correct medication. If there is an issue with the prescription I contact the physician’s office to receive clarifications on dosage or clarifications. I prepare the medication itself by counting ensuring that the correct amount is dispensed. I process prescription claims through insurance and assist in sending prior authorizations along with contacting the third party insurance to resolve any issues. Along with billing medications, I also assist the pharmacist in processing immunizations. I create and send an order of medication stock bottles for inventory. I call patients to ask questions about their medications and immunizations to ensure that I have the correct information.

As a pharmacy intern I helped stock medications as the order came in. I faxed documents related to prescriptions to physicians offices for clarification. I made phone calls to patients about their medication and any immunizations recommended for them. I helped return prescriptions not picked up by patients and made sure that they were returned to the right place. I checked the inventory everyday to make sure that we had the correct number of medications. I also filed prescriptions that were already filled.
