At St Charles I worked as an on call staff nurse on the Medical, Surgical, Neuro and Ortho units from June ‘91until September of ‘92. From Sept ‘92-April ‘98 I was hired along with 2 other RN’s to create and implement the Pre-Surgery Clinic”. As a team, we wrote the clinics policy and procedures, created the assessment forms and worked with anesthesia to set guidelines for diagnostic studies. I preformed all aspects of the Pre-Surgery clinic. I prepared patients for surgery by completing the admission assessment history, the necessary diagnostics studies according to the diagnosis/procedures, patient/family education, to include P.T. ,O.T., communicated with anesthesia/surgeons/OR, coordinated with OR holding and rotated as the team leader of our nursing staff of 6. Prior to my employment with St Charles, I worked as a Discharge Planner plus some Pediatrics in both acute and clinic setting.
