About Maria Claudia Borras

As chief growth & experience officer at Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, I lead the company's enterprise growth and customer experience strategies as we make energy more affordable, secure, sustainable, and efficient for the planet.Taking energy forward is both our challenge and our passion…because energy is fundamental to personal abundance, economic growth, and human advancement. The solutions we develop for and with our customers are based on that belief and are supported by our responsibility to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050. Making sure that energy is affordable, secure, and sustainable – and finding, producing, and delivering every source of energy efficiently – is what we call “sustainable energy development.”As the demand for oil and gas grows amidst concerns for energy security and the natural decline of producing assets, my focus increasingly shifts to that topic. I believe that we must take some important steps now.• We must collaborate globally to make exploring for and producing energy cleaner, safer, and more efficient.• We must invest in advanced digital technology, robust supply chains, and local manufacturing facilities.• We must implement solutions swiftly to meet the world's energy demands across offshore, unconventional, and mature assets.I’ve been proud to work in the energy industry for more than 30 years, beginning as a petroleum engineer for a major oil company; moving through global leadership roles in operations, marketing, and sales for oilfield service companies; to my executive position today at Baker Hughes.A graduate of the Universidad de América, Bogotá, Colombia, I have an enduring passion for this industry, for our customers, and for mentoring the next generation of energy professionals.Outside of Baker Hughes, I’m proud to sit on the boards of directors of Tyson Foods, Inc., and Baker Petrolite Saudi Company, Ltd. I previously served on the board of ADNOC Drilling Company. I’m also a member of the University of Houston Energy Advisory Board.Within Baker Hughes, I really enjoy participating in several employee resource groups, including the Women’s Network and the LatinX Hispanic Forum.I use LinkedIn to support my customers, to stay connected to my colleagues around the world, and to learn how my team and I can find better ways to take energy forward.
