Maria Isabel Rivera is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Geography, from the Universidad de Concepción, Chile. She is a researcher at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS). Rivera’s research focuses on indoor environmental quality in school buildings. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, USA in 2019, and earned ARCC King Student Medal for Excellence in Architectural & Environmental Research. Her dissertation investigated thermal comfort and indoor air quality conditions in naturally ventilated primary schools in Southern Chile. She has co-authored journal papers in Energy and Buildings and presented her research at ARCC and PLEA International conferences. Maria Isabel Rivera has a Master in Architecture from the University of Washington in 2009 and BArch from the Universidad de Concepción in 2006. Rivera is a Certified Passive House Consultant, from Passive House Institute U.S.
