I carry out research on fish welfare and create profiles on our FishEthoBase, which is a database of farmed fish species. The objective is to score the current state of farmed fish species based on the fish needs. Our work informs the farm industry on the specific welfare needs of the species that they farm.

Supervise undergraduate students’ projects and train students in laboratory techniques.• Perform literature searches, write and implement scientific protocols, run studies, analyse data, write and edit scientific articles, and present results at local and international conferences.• Peer review scientific manuscripts for the journal Brain Research.• Use of laboratory equipment, such as pipettors, microscopes, etc. Design and fabricate specialized equipment.

I supervised 3-6 students that took care of daily animal husbandry, interviewed and selected the students that worked with us, trained new students in laboratory safety and animal husbandry, had meetings with the veterinaries and ethics committee as well as with colleagues to fulfill everyone’s needs. I coordinated the use of our laboratory space and resources, maintained and repaired equipment, did inventory of the laboratory equipment and consumables, placed orders, and covered all caretaking duties when needed, along with disposing of hazardous materials, maintaining Laboratory Safety Standards and writing and updating our Animal Care Standard Operating Procedures. In addition to my studies, I also got several certifications, such as Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Hazardous Waste Management Disposal Training for Laboratory Personnel, and Animal Care Certifications.

I was the Teaching Assistant at 4 undergraduate courses at the Biology Department at McGill Univeristy (Biol 306 - Neural Bases of Behaviour (Fall 2014); Biol 112 - Cell and Molecular Biology (Winters 2014 and 2013); Biol 307 - Behavioural Ecology (Winter 2013)). I led laboratory sessions and conferences, acted as a liaison between course supervisors/professors and students, and evaluated students reports, presentations and exams.
