About Maria Keller

● WHO AM I A graduate student in the University of Notre Dame's Master of Theological Studies program. I graduated from Notre Dame with a B.A. from the College of Arts & Letters, double majoring in the Program of Liberal Studies and Medieval Studies. I founded the literacy nonprofit Read Indeed when I was 8 years old with the goal of collecting and distributing 1 million books to children in need. To date, Read Indeed has collected and distributed more than 3.5 million books to children throughout the U.S. and beyond. We are making a positive impact on peoples’ lives through Read Indeed’s literacy efforts. I have had the privilege of being featured in dozens of articles and newscasts, including the New York Times, CNN, and the Huffington Post.● WHAT I DO As an undergraduate student, I was exposed to an integrated liberal arts education, with courses in the fine arts, history, literature, philosophy, science, and theology. I also took multiple language-learning courses in Chinese, a language I have thoroughly enjoyed studying for the past 8 years. In spring 2021, I was invited to participate in the Notre Dame London Kennedy Scholars program, studying in London and learning research techniques for my senior thesis. I also continue to strive to serve underprivileged children and teens by infusing their lives with books and the understanding of the importance reading plays in our lives. My literacy presentations to groups near and far have further enhanced my ability to share the vital importance reading plays in the success and well-being of children and adults. I have had the privilege of speaking at the Kennedy Center in honor of John F. Kennedy’s 100th Birthday, alongside 4 distinguished individuals including the director of the Peace Corps, Ireland’s ambassador to the United States, and famous astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
