The Brooklyn Free Clinic is a student-run health clinic at SUNY Downstate Medical School that provides free medical care to uninsured and underserved individuals in Brooklyn. Volunteer medical students, nursing students, residents, and social workers staff the clinic, with a mission to improve access to healthcare and provide hands-on experience. Services include primary care and preventive health education, and the clinic is supported by grant funding, fundraising events, and donations. As CFO, I ensure financial success by managing budgets, bookkeeping, and reimbursements, and leading the Treasurer, Fundraising Chairs and Grants Committee. To date, BFC has been awarded $60,000 under my leadership. As a medical student and Executive Board member, I drive impactful change and financial stability for BFC.

During COVID-19 I faced many obstacles finding suitable grief counseling services which led me to commit myself to making mental health services more accessible within the Greater New York community. As a Project Manager at Low Cost Therapy NYC, I updated the online database connecting low-income patients with affordable mental health organizations and recruited and supported 15 student volunteers on database maintenance.

As a Clinical Research Coordinator, I was responsible for driving compliance for 20 active clinical trials focused on Prostate Cancer, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms. This included updating all data documentation on EDC, eTMF, and CTMS platforms daily to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines. I also coordinated 5 investigator-initiated protocols, IRB submissions, and grant proposals with up to $500,000 in funding. This required strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure all necessary documentation and approvals were in place. Additionally, I maintained a high patient retention and satisfaction rating by proactively evaluating, relaying vital information, and resolving patient issues. This required strong communication and problem-solving skills to ensure that patients received the best possible care. Overall, this role was challenging, but also incredibly rewarding as it allowed me to make a positive impact on the lives of patients.

As a Patient Access Specialist at Hospital for Special Surgery, my main responsibilities were to train new hires on clinical workflow using EPIC EMR, coordinate patient care by obtaining clinical intake and consent forms, and executing COVID-19 travel and contact exposure protocol. I was responsible for training 10 new hires on clinical workflow using EPIC EMR, which was crucial in ensuring that the team productivity exceeds 150%. My experience with EPIC EMR helped me to ensure that the team was trained effectively and efficiently. Additionally, I was responsible for coordinating patient care by accurately obtaining clinical intake and consent forms at high-volume of patients. This required me to be well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask. Lastly, I executed COVID-19 travel and contact exposure protocol discretely and in a timely manner, triaging to Infection Control and appropriate clinical staff to ensure patient safety and minimize interruption of provider services. This required me to be able to work under pressure and have strong communication skills to ensure that patients were triaged in a timely and effective manner.
