As many of you know, I, Maria Lopez was born with Tetralogy of Fallot. Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a congenital heart defect which is classically understood to involve four anatomical abnormalities of the heart.Tetralogy of Fallot is a rare, complex heart defect. It occurs in about 5 out of every 10,000 babies. Although the surgical treatment of Tetralogy of Fallot is very effective in correcting the structural defects and blood flow through the heart, it can cause some ongoing abnormalities in the heart’s function and can also lead to sudden death. I have, despite the magnitude of this repair in 1969, and a repair in 2012, continue to live a somewhat normal life. I know I will eventually need future repairs but I continue to be grateful to God leaving it in his hands for being able to do many things. To show my gratitude, I have decided to pay it forward by launching this campaign for our babies born with this disease or defect. As many of you know, I recently began to love the art of knitting and have successfully knitted many beautiful small items. My campaign will be to knit hats for TOF babies to keep our babies warm and precious during their long stay at the hospitals. I will also include babies who recently had open heart surgery and as a way to warm their hearts. I am not asking for much just a small donation of $10. This will allow me to purchase the necessary supplies and pay for postage. I recently posted on certain groups and in one day had as many as fifty request for these hats from over our country, Canada, Australia, and England. I have a need to pay forward and have set a goal to reach, Potentially a goal of 1969, this number came to mind symbolizing the year of my first surgery. please help me reach my goal.
