Maria Magliulo is graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies at the University of Bologna in 2002. She received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007 from the University of Bologna discussing a thesis on “Innovative immunoassay formats for the detection of pathogenic bacteria and food contaminants”. During her PhD the main research focus was on the development of luminescent high-throughput multiplexed immunoassays for the detection of pathogenic bacteria and food contaminants. She also worked on the development of innovative, flow-assisted immunoassay based on field-flow fractionation and on analytical methods based on MALDI-TOF coupled with chemiometric analysis of data for the detection of pathogen bacteria. From 2009 to 2016 she was researcher in the group of Prof. Luisa Torsi at Department of Chemistry, University of Bari, here she worked on the development of electronic biosensors based on Organic Field-Effect Transistors (OFET) involving different recognition processes. During the researcher activity, she was author of more than 40 scientific publications in high impact factor journals and she attended more than 100 international and national conferences. She served as referee for several international journals in the field of Analytical Chemistry and Bio-Chemistry.In 2016, she started a completely new experience as owner of an independent pharmacy. Her main activity deals with the development of new strategies to have a meaningful impact on the patients’ wellbeing and to meet the community’s needs. She is involved in several project aimed to develop innovative solutions to improve patients' health.In 2021 and 2022, she was member of the Advisory Board of Valore Salute, a pharmacies' network by Comifar-Phoenix comprising more than 800 independent pharmacies. She is secretary of the Federfarma Taranto unit.
