Student Naval Aviator

Washington, Dc, Us

During the first 21 months on active duty I completed flight school for the United States Navy. This consisted of several phases, the first of which was Introductory Flight School where I trained on a Cessna 172 up to my initial solo. I then went through Aviation Preflight Indoctrination. This is a demanding six week program that is meant to test both mental and physical capabilities in: water survival, aerodynamics, weather meteorology, navigation, and engineering. I was then stationed at Naval Air Station Whiting field where I completed Primary Flight Training on the Navy's fixed wing trainer, T-6B. Our training included an introduction into fixed wing fundamentals, aerobatics, instruments, and formations. Following primary flight training I transitioned to helicopters, training with the Navy's TH-57B/C. This training includes basic helicopter fundamentals, with a focus on instrument flight and an introduction to search and rescue, low-level, formations, and night vision goggles. I received my Instrument rating after the completion of the Instrument syllabus and received my wings of gold on March 13th, 2015.
