My thesis was at the intersection of hardware, physics simulations and particle physics.+ first PhD thesis on Belle II experiment in France.Belle II, at the SuperKEKB accelerator in Japan, aims to solve a great mystery in fundamental physics: after the Big Bang, why do we have a world made up of matter (and not anti-matter)? In the current standard model of elementary particles, there is a mechanism called Charge Parity violation (CP-violation) which could be responsible for this. But the observed CP-violation today is not enough to explain the dominance of matter. So we have to search for new physics, or physics beyond the standard model of elementary particles.+ I was investigating if we can find new physics and a new source of CP violation in the decays of the D0 mesons in the SuperKEKB accelerator. Title of my thesis: “ Study of the time-dependent CP asymmetry in D0 decays in the Belle II experiment”.+ software development in C++ for creating particle decay simulations+ data analysis in python from the CMOS detectors, perfomed at CERN and DESY Germany+ sensitivity analysis based on Monte Carlo simulations+ parallel computation on CPU cluster for computationally expensive simulations + tools: C++, basf2 (Belle II analysis framework), Geant (simulation tool for particle-detector interactions), taf (internal software tool for detector analysis), python, bash, root CERN (big data analysis tool for particle physics)
