Previously, she worked for five years at the Institute for Public Policy in Moldova, where she coordinated and supported various projects in the field of good governance, civil society, community policing, community development, human rights, non-discrimination, gender equality, youth empowerment, and participation. Maria holds a Master of Laws LL.M in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance from the InternationalUniversity College of Turin and Università Degli Studi di Torino (Turin, Italy) and a B.S. in Finance andBanking from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.Maria is an Alumna of various international educational programs, including the Open Society Foundations, the Obama Foundation, the US Department of State, the International Labour Organization Summer School on Gender Economics and Society, the Swedish Institute Summer Academy for Young Professionals, the Council of Europe School of Political Studies, the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University Summer School and the German Marshall Fund.
