Dharma Farm is a 10 acre property in N. Carolina. The farm is home to Arcadia Lodge, a vegan event center, as well as farm animal microsanctuary. The microsanctuary is currently home to 5 alpacas, 2 donkeys a 3 goats. One goat, Kookie, is disabled and uses a wheelchair to get around in. Maria Taylor, curator of Dharma Farm, is developing a program in the practice of Animal Assisted Mindfulness. She is Certified by Duke University, Center for Integrative Medicine, in Mindfulness for Professional as well as in Integrative Health Coaching. She was raised a Buddhistand has dedicated her life to practicing non violence. She advocates for a non coercive and respectful approach in all relationships, which is why she and her husband unschooled their 4 children and also why they are vegan. Along with her husband, she is a Founding Board Member of the Global Initiative for the Advancement of Nutritional Medicine, GIANT, (Chairman is former Atlanta Mayor, and Ambassador, Andrew Young). She is the Chairperson of The Triad Vegan Society and Founder and Chairperson of the Triad Vegfest.
