About Maria Thorpe, Phd

I work across two of the brilliant agencies within MSQ, as Head of Data Science at 26PMX, and Data Partner at MSQdata. I lead great data teams across data engineering, analytics enablement, insight, and conversion rate optimisation on top of driving data leadership, pitching and machine learning/AI.Before joining 26PMX, I was leading data science teams in the civil service to modernise forecasting models and automate data pipelines. This involved providing the government with broader and more robust information about the impact of policies on student finance and low-income households. This culminated in introducing changes to the student finance repayment system, generating savings of over £30bn, in response to insight into graduate earnings from novel data driven earnings forecasts.I’m passionate about improving diversity in the data profession, speaking on panels at the AI and Big Data Expo and podcasts like SheCanCode to discuss how we can encourage more women to the enter the industry.I’d love to talk all things data (or tell you more about my adorable Pembrokeshire Corgi, Megan), find me at maria.thorpe@26-agency.com.
