The ICSI is a leading international institute focused on the research areas of networks, security, speech, and multimedia technologies. I participated in a series of conferences on the future Internet and provided research assistance on a related project. • Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. ETH Zurich. (2008 June-August). Collaborated with the ETH communication system group. This group has developed research expertise in ad-hoc and wireless networks, future Internet and network security. I worked with the network security research team, implementing a tool that improves the detection of intrusions in the existing intrusion detection systems.Professional services: International Project Office (2007 May-October)Managed international research projects for the University of Granada. These focused on Information & Communication Technologies included in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) (European Union). I provided advice to researches and supported proposal writing.

Visiting researcher on network security at the Communication Systems Group at ETH Zurich (Polytechnic University)

Responsible for examining and evaluating over 100 patent applications. I took decisions on their patentability, novelty, inventiveness and clarity. Provided technical assistance in oral proceedings and oppositions, as well as performing searches in patent and non-patent literature and liaising with applicants’ attorneys.

Involved in two large projects with Siemens, a key client. First, as an Engineer Analyst of a GSM Switch in an international team, tasked with the analysis of the new version of the D900 GSM switch from Siemens, and its compatibility with the EWSD switch for fixed networks. Primarily responsible for the analysis of the ISUP protocol, I also contributed to other parts of the code, including intelligent networks or lawful interception. In the second project I was the Trouble-Shooting Engineer for switch D900, responsible for client relationship and problem solving for the Billing server and X.25 lines.I have also coordinated and executed the internal training on GSM / UMTS / ADSL, for Altran Consultants.

Information System Advisor and the only in-situ member of the IT department, with a helpdesk in Madrid. I was responsible for all the IT tasks related to a small network of one NT server and 15 Windows 95 exchange clients, and a remote computer in Islamabad. I was also responsible for the network administration, user support and training, communication and data base management, web pages design, installation and maintenance of hardware and software.

At the beginning of my career, in the early days of the Internet, I was Co-responsible for the Installation of a web server, providing Technical Support for the installation, design and activation of the server, as well as the website design.
