After finishing my degree, I spent one academic year in France. There I had the opportunity to begin my professional path as a language teacher.As I implemented different activities in class, I noticed that what students enjoyed the most were those dynamic activities where they could take part as a group, for instance: ✔️ Discussions about a current topic.✔️ Contests where they could practice what they had learnt in class and score points.✔️ Short presentations for later discussion with their classmates.This experience made me realise that learning in an active way makes the students see languages as a useful tool for their daily life and careers.So, I moved away from the traditional methods such as learning grammar rules by heart, translating long and difficult sentences, or learning endless vocabulary lists that you won’t use when visiting a foreign country.Since then, my objective when I prepare lesson activities is to create an inclusive and participative atmosphere where students see the language as a living tool and a door that helps them open to the world.I also see grammar mistakes or mispronunciation as a great part of learning, as they make you lose fear of speaking and keep on improving your communicative skills.Once I came back to Spain, I began teaching English from A2 to B2 levels and French from A2 to B1 level (according to the Common European Framework of reference for languages).As I have taught different levels, I always adapt the content and the activities to the needs and goals of each student.

I spent an academic year in France (2014-2015), where I began working as a language assistant at school Jean Cocteau (Coulaines) and at Lycée Montesquieu (Le Mans).My role as a language assistant was to support the Spanish teachers’ team with their activities and tasks in the Spanish lessons, and my main task at school was to support and give conversation lessons to small groups of students, as indicated by the subject teacher or the Head of Modern Languages.Besides the main task, there were other educational goals:▶️ To help keeping records of the students’ progress in conversation lessons. ▶️ To assist the subject teachers in the running of a language activity. ▶️ To assist with the preparation of resource material, as indicated by the subject teacher.▶️ To promote the knowledge of the Spanish culture and costumes among the students at all levels.▶️ To teach useful vocabulary and idiomatic expressions in Spanish that students could use when visiting the country.In order to reach these goals, each week the main teacher proposed a topical subject, and we prepared different oral and written activities for the students: a listening, a little text with questions, a slide show, etc.Through these activities, students usually worked in groups to discuss their ideas and start a debate. French students were really collaborative.

INMIGRAMOB is a project carried out by experts in computing, distance education and Spanish teaching from the Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM), Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO) and Universidad Nacional a Distancia (UNED).INMIGRAMOB is focused on teaching Spanish as a second language through the use of new technologies.The INMIGRAMOB team has been surrounded by people who emigrates to Spain and find it difficult to attend Spanish lessons due to their continuous mobility. Thanks to the development of a mobile application, students have found a new alternative to learn Spanish wherever they are and at any time. This will also help them not to forget what they had previously learnt, stay focused and keep on learning without restrictions.✔️ My first task as an INMIGRAMOB collaborator was to investigate and write articles about migration and about learning Spanish as a second language.✔️ My second task was to create teaching materials for the face-to-face lessons, from A2 to B1 levels.This experience was my first professional contact with the world of languages and the e-learning sector.It was a rewarding experience, since I was able to meet a lot of professionals who helped me develop abilities such as coordination, respect of deadlines and schedules and the effective integration of your tasks in large projects, where all the teams are essential to achieve the expected results.
