My work helped to guide the company through a CEO transition, a significant corporate reorganization, and Chapter 11 bankruptcy designed to strengthen the company's balance sheet and better capitalize it for a fully digital future. McClatchy successfully emerged from Chapter 11 and operates today as a privately held company.

After the sale and integration of SmartThings to Samsung, I shifted gears to focus on becoming a public company board director, senior operator exploring new sectors, and angel investor. I also spent a couple months volunteering in a refugee camp in Lesvos, Greece.Public and Private Boards: I joined the Boards of two publicly traded companies (McClatchy, Control4), a private growth stage company (Spoonflower) and two non-profits (Pew Research Center and the American Journalism Project). Senior Operating Roles, Exploring New Sectors: Served in interim operating roles as CEO of GlamSquad and CMO of Remote Year. In mid-2019, I was recruited by Redesign Health to be an EIR. Angel Investing and Advising: I extended my learning and impact across new sectors of interest becoming an active angel investor in 14 startups, spanning ecommerce, AI, marketplace platforms, healthcare and new media, and as becoming a strategic advisor to several emerging businesses. Investments include Signifyd, Catalant Technologies, Sideline Swap, BuiltRobotics, WaitWhat, SimonData, TravelJoy, Twice (acquired by eBay), SideTour (acquired by GroupOn), Hark Audio, Layer6 (acquired by TDBank), Pocket Health.
