Jan 2023 - Present

Senior Project Manager - Design Lead

Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Project Leader: Ciclorruta Norte-SurBetween 2021 – 2022, I was the Project Leader of the strategic project ‘Ciclorruta Norte-Sur’’ (US $25m budget), a 17km structuring cycling corridor of Medellin’s active mobility network, that will articulate new and existing cycling infrastructures to consolidate a longitudinal network between the north and south of the city. The project aims to transform the metropolitan as well as the neighborhood scale, recovering the street as a public space for pedestrians and cyclists of all ages, genders and socioeconomic backgrounds to promote sustainable mobility opportunities for people of diverse experiences across the city. In this role, I recruited, built, and led a team of 30 professionals in architecture, design, engineering and social sciences in the planning, design, and approval stages of the project. In addition, I steered and adapted the project in a constantly changing political environment and persuaded decision makers and diverse stakeholders in favor of its vision at various stages of development.

Apr 2021 - Dec 2022

Senior Urban Designer

Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia

Mobility Department at the Metropolitan AgencyActive, Safe and Inclusive Mobility TeamFrom 2017 to 2019, I was part of the active mobility team at the Metropolitan Agency of Medellin; a team with a leading role in integrating the bicycle in the Metropolitan Mass Transit System and expanding the network of protected cycle-lanes and walkable streets in ten municipalities. As part of the team, I was the Project Leader of ‘La Estrella Camina’ a 22.500 m2 shared streets intervention in the municipality’s city center from planning, design to implementation. Additionally, I planned and designed in a team of eight, (30km) of active mobility corridors and safe intersections for cyclists and pedestrians of different typology, scope, budget, and regulatory policies in ten municipalities in the Metropolitan Area. Among them ‘La Picacha Green Corridor’, awarded Best Cycle Infrastructure Project in the Country in 2019.

Apr 2017 - Aug 2019

Architect And Urban Designer

Latitud, Taller De Arquitectura Y Ciudad

Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia

Between 2015 and 2017, I was part of the team that lead the public regeneration project: ‘Parques del Río Medellin’ (Medellin River Parks), a flagship urban project that aims to recover the Medellin River, which crosses the valley, and is currently disconnected from the city’s dynamics by two parallel regional highways. Seeking to weave the city both longitudinally and transversally, the project places the high-speed roads underground, turning the riverbanks into the city’s ecological, public space and mobility axis.In this role, I developed two sections (4 km) of the 26km project and coordinated with the team to achieve a comprehensive plan regarding mobility and public space. As part of a team of 20, I designed and prepared detailed drawings of the first 2 phases of the project, which included the design of 95.500 m2 of public space and park pavilions, obtaining municipal planning approvals for both phases and supporting the implementation phase.

Here I tested the prototypes and created the final exhibit models.

Mar 2013 - Aug 2013

Architectural Intern

Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia

As an architecture intern, I contributed to the planning and design of the project: ‘Parque de Artes y Oficios’, a 17.000 m2 public park and school for the arts and crafts, developing public space interventions and landscape design. In addition, I supported the research and design of (2) urban design competitions with diagrams and drawings.
