I am a high-performance leader known as a visionary game changer with a bias for action who transforms order from chaos, brings multiple disciplines together for a common purpose, improves staff skill levels, and creates novel initiatives that solve strategic challenges. Sought out by senior leaders to head major initiatives, I met with President George W. Bush to elaborate on behalf of BP the importance of alternative energy and was lead organizer for a major Capitol Hill event for Secretary Ernest Moniz. As the former Chief Operations Officer for the Physical Sciences and Engineering Directorate at Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory, I was responsible for leading strategic planning implementation for Operations and Business Management. I provided for the 800 person and $150 million dollar revenue organization, leadership for fiscal management, human/capital management, resource allocation, infrastructure planning, safety, and quality assurance to drive safe, cost-effective, and efficient research and development.Currently I am a Senior Research Advisor at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), specializing in the Circular Economy and grid integration of low carbon intensity technologies. I have more than 20 years of experience in scientific research and development, including 14 years at BP and 5 years at Rohm and Haas/Dow. I hold 3 patents for a revolutionary product that remained on the market for over 14 years. Over the course of my career, I have assisted in securing approximately $200 million in private, federal, and state funding, while managing multilevel strategic public/private partnerships. Other roles have included Senior Research Scientist, and Market and Business Development Manager. One of my passions is inclusion of under-represented groups into the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) work force. Hence, I founded a rigorous high school to college research program, for African Americans to increase and maintain student engagement in STEM from high school through undergraduate and graduate school. Thus far students have produced over 120 competitive research projects, and all have gone on to attend major universities. Also, I have served as a dedicated member on multiple boards including the Indian Prairie District 204 School Board.
