About Maria Fumai Dietrich

A lifelong learner, I find joy in experimentation, trying new things, and growing as an individual, artist, educator, and leader. Since childhood, I am often drawn to creative pursuits—my first love being the stage. This love led me to study vocal performance at a small, liberal arts college, where I also minored in painting and began my career as an arts administrator. I hold a professional certificate in Performing Arts Administration from NYU ‘06, a BA from Concordia College—New York ‘07, an MS in Arts Administration from Drexel University ‘09, and an MA in Public Leadership from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and Temple University’s Fox School of Business ‘11. I am a proud co-founder and board member emeritus of Emerging Arts Leaders: Philadelphia and was a 2018 fellow in the New York Foundation for the Arts Emerging Leaders Program. I reside on the East End of Long Island with my spouse George and our four super awesome kiddos. In my discretionary time, I support the arts, advocate for arts education, gun violence prevention, and breast cancer awareness, as well as serve as volunteer fundraiser for related organizations.Areas of particular interest to me include: effecting social change through the arts, ethics, leadership, teamwork, self-expression, audience development, and higher education. Specialties: Non-profit and arts administration - program, fund, and audience development (communications planning and graphic design)Higher education administration – student affairs and services, student group and student advising, residential services, communicationsArts - trained classical vocalist, actor, and free-lance illustrator and photographer
