I was responsible for the academic growth and development of second grade students whose age range could be 7 to 9 years of age. I developed lesson plans to supplement the curriculum that was provided by the school to ensure that students were being taught according to state standards and common core. I was also responsible to ensure that all students felt safe and comfortable in their learning environment by implementing effective class management techniques and tools. Technology was also used to enhance lessons that would excite students and keep them focused. Weekly, and sometimes daily, parent communication was exercised through email, texting (through Class Dojo) and phone calls. Parent conferences and individual meetings were set up by appointment. I consider my communication skills to be excellent and professional due to experience with parents at CCA.

I started by substitute teaching for grades K through 8th. Then I was given responsibility to assist teachers with students who were struggling with reading and writing. I also assisted the first grade teacher for half the day, every day throughout the week by helping students who needed extra help and making sure that all students were understanding the executed lesson plans.

I earned my BCLAD Clear Credential at California State University Dominguez Hills through an internship at Moffitt Elementary in Norwalk, California. I taught a bilingual second grade class for 4 years and a 2nd/3rd grade bilingual combination class for one year. The combination class was my first teaching experience and it propelled me to develop excellent organizational skills and classroom control. My entire 5 years at Moffitt also helped me develop strong lesson planning skills, excellent assessment and evaluation of students, strong communication skills with parents and staff, and valuable cooperative skills with my colleagues.I also gained English language learner experience at Moffitt Elementary by using various visual, reading and writing strategies that helped my students become proficient in English.
