This position at Whole Foods Market has been extremely rewarding, both personally and professionally. WFM empowers its team members to be as knowledgeable as possible about the products that are offered so as to provide excellent customer service at all times. I have been able to learn a great deal about what it means to eat healthily and the benefits that careful, conscientious eating can have. As coffee buyer, I am also responsible for the profitability and success of my subteam which includes, but is not limited to: ensuring that there are as few out of stocks as possible, customizing our product offering to our clientele, maintaining adequate back stock levels, working closely with colleagues to run a successful coffee bar, and communicating my concerns and ideas to team and store leadership in a timely manner.

The goal of the Minnesota Reading Corps is to close the staggering achievement gap that currently exists in Minnesota by helping all students to become proficient readers by the time they graduate 3rd grade. As a Reading Corps tutor I meet with students daily for 20-minute sessions and guide them through reading interventions established by the Minnesota Reading Corps that are aimed at improving student accuracy, rate and expression when reading.

As a student intern at the CIEE Study Center in Madrid, Spain, my primary duties are to plan and carry out cultural activities and day trips for students studying on the program, organize volunteer opportunities for CIEE students, and host weekly office hours during which students can come in to discuss any questions or concerns they might be facing. I also handle basic administrative tasks around the office and manage the CIEE Spanish Student Network, a group of Spanish students who volunteer to help out during CIEE on-site orientation and activities.

During my time working for Aramark, I often managed concession stands at sports venues throughout the Univ. of Minnesota campus and was responsible for volunteer groups who worked stands as a fundraising event. I maintained cleanliness and assured customer satisfaction during the sporting event. After closing a stand, I helped with and oversaw final cleanup and inventory counts, ultimately assessing the financial earnings of the booth and balancing the books.Occasionally I was asked to train new employees and explain the required tasks expected of a stand manager.

As a teacher assistant, I was responsible for small groups of students, aged 7-11, on a rotating basis throughout the school day. Classroom teachers would give me a subject to focus on for one session or various sessions in order to help those students that were struggling to either catch up or get more practice. I also oversaw recess time, breakfast and lunch and was expected to keep the students safe and under control.
