As an intern at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, I worked closely with staff in the Community Financial Assistance department. This department reviews grant applications for qualified lake, river, aquatic invasive species, and nonprofit organizations, and awards money to successful applicants. My responsibilities included converting hard copy application materials to a digital format; conducting legal research; updating state statute and administrative code binders for several grant program managers; and helping to streamline the online grant application process. I completed my internship in August, 2018.Prior to attaining my degree in paralegalism, I was an educator. Over the span of thirty-three years, I taught third and fourth grade students; was the technology coordinator at a large elementary school in Milwaukee, WI; and served as both a high school and elementary media specialist. As a media specialist, I wore many hats, including technology troubleshooter, literature adviser, curriculum specialist, and marketing whiz.
